Darvocet Overview

Darvocet Addiction TreatmentDarvocet contains a combination of propoxyphene and acetaminophen. Propoxyphene is in a group of drugs called narcotic pain relievers. Acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever and a fever reducer that increases the effects of propoxyphene. Darvocet is used to relieve mild to moderate pain with or without fever. Darvocet may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide. Darvocet has been marketed in dozens of different formulations, including: Darvon Pulvules, Darvon Compound-65, Darvon-N, E-Lor, PC-CAP, Darvocet A500, Darvocet-N 100, Darvocet-N 50, Propacet 100, Wygesic.

Darvocet Signs of Abuse

  • Asking for brand-name Darvocet, which is more expensive in the streets
  • Asking for pink generic Darvocet, which usually has a higher "street" value than white pills
  • Going through a Darvocet prescription too quickly (and needing refills before they are due)
  • Doctor shopping, or is seeing several different healthcare providers to obtain numerous Darvocet prescriptions or switching from one provider to another
  • Repeated reports of losing a prescription, having a prescription stolen, or needing a prescription early to go on vacation
  • Lying or stealing to obtain more of the drug
  • Hiding the drug from friends and family
  • Constantly using and thinking about drug in secret

Effects of Darvocet Abuse

  • Dizziness or lack of stability
  • Loss of appetite
  • Dry mouth
  • Compromised mental function
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Liver damage

Darvocet Withdrawal Symptoms

  • Aches and Pains
  • Shakiness
  • Sweating
  • Physical craving
  • Anxiety
  • Paranoia
  • Abnormal skin sensations such as “crawling” skin
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue
