Addiction Treatment Facilities in North CarolinaIn North Carolina, 400 substance abuse treatment facilities were included in the 2010 N-SSATS, reporting that there were 33,029 clients in substance abuse treatment on March 31, 2010. The survey response rate in North Carolina was 83.8%.

According to the 2010 National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS) annual surveys, the number of addiction treatment facilities in North Carolina was 400. Of these, 191 were private for-profit and 171 were private non-profit. The remainder were owned/operated by federal, State or local government(s). Since 2002, the number of treatment facilities in North Carolina has significantly increased.

Although addiction treatment facilities in North Carolina may offer more than one modality of care, in 2010 the majority of treatment facilities (337 or 84.3%) offered some form of outpatient addiction treatment. Another 73 facilities offered some form of residential addiction treatment, where 32 offered short term care and 49 offered long term addiction treatment, with 15 of these residential addiction treatment facilities offering detoxification. There were 38 facilities offering opioid treatment program in North Carolina with certified physicians providing Methadone and Buprenorphine treatments.
